So as the Laker Train continues on its track to a championship, another path is being walked by Dwight Howard. Now the heir to the “original” Superman, Dwight must come to grips with all that has happened. He requested a trade to the Brooklyn Nets earlier in the summer, that obviously didn’t happen so now he is in Los Angeles. Does anyone remember Howard refusing to take the road Shaquille O’Neal took years ago? I sure do! He said he would never do it, but look where he is, he is in Hollywood.
Funny this trade to happen this week as I am currently on vacation here in LA. Two hours ago I walked out on my street next to our house to get something from the car. I had been keeping in tune with all the trade rumors this evening, but I was disappointed to find out the Magic preferred the Rockets offer. I kinda just gave up on it then. So anyway I’m out on the street and I hear this guy yelling, “we got Dwight!!!!!” I was so happy along with the rest of Tinkertown, but I was happy for a different reason.
I am happy cause the drama is over, Dwight left Orlando and everyone is happy now. I am also happy to be rooting for Dwight knowing that he will stay with that team. About the Laker Train, the Lakers look like the best in the West as of now. With a HOF point guard, shooting guard, great defensive small forward, All-Star power forward, and HOF center. The Showtime can start again, just think Nash is Magic, Kobe as James Worthy, and Dwight Howard now playing the backup star role that Kareem played. Why do I like this team? They really are an image of Showtime Lakers.
The Lakers look great, all they need to do is figure out how to get Phil Jackson back and dump Mike Brown. Am I dissing Mike Brown? Of course not. I completely respect Brown and his coaching, but if they could get Phil back it would be great!!
This team = one Championship
First, I gotta say welcome back to our friends coming back from China. Yes, that means you, J.R. Smith and Kenyon Martin.
We all know already that K-Mart is already suited in a Clippers jersey, but will J.R. team up once again with Kenyon, Billups, and CP3. J.R. is probably one of the best dunkers and shooters of the last five years. Five teams are reported, by Yahoo.com, to be after Smith, those teams are: Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Indiana Pacers. The only question about this evaluation is if he wants a ring, money, or more playing time. The Pacers would be the team to offer money, they have 14 million laying around waiting to be spent by Larry Bird. The Clippers offer the strong possibility of a championship ring for the veteran. Last, but not least, the T-Wolves offer playing time. Now, if I know J.R. Smith, (and I do pretty well) I would think he would be after the money that Larry Legend is sure to offer. That’s just me though, tell me what you think J.R. will want.
I have had enough of complaining from the owners about small markets. The problem is those team aren’t aggressive. With the latest trade of Lamar Odom to Dallas, you had to think why another team didn’t pursue a clearly unstable Lamar. That is why they aren’t good they don’t go after stars like others. They just sit and think of who would play in a place like, Indiana or Wisconsin. If I were a GM, I would be much more aggressive. Those are just my thoughts, tell me what you think.
Well, you know how I asked about LeBron as my first pick right? Now it became a reality. I just drafted my team and am very excited to kick off my season. Here is my team as of right now with some info on each player.
PG Rajon Rondo
It was easy to pick Rondo. He is an assist machine. After you read about the next two players, you will know why I didn’t need another scorer. I have been looking at Rajon all week as a player and got him with the 23rd pick so I thought it was a pretty good deal.
SG Kobe Bryant
I am normally not a fan of Kobe, but I traded up in the second round to get a scorer to go with my next player. I still think Kobe is a major fantasy threat.
SF LeBron James
PF DeMarcus Cousins
Why I picked Cousins? Simple. Lots of rebounds, lots of points, and a bad team. Any other questions?
C Nene Hilario
I just can’t get enough Nene. He has been one of my favorite players for a long time and still is. You got to choose someone you really like.
That is my team in a nutshell. If you would like to know who is on my bench, just ask on the comments.
Finally, the NBA has reached an agreement. Late Saturday night the players and owners agreed on a ten year deal that will give us matchups on Christmas, including the following: Lakers vs. Bulls, Mavericks vs. Heat, and many more. Look for more NBA information coming this weekend.
I absolutely dislike Kobe Bryant, but I still admit he is a great player. With five rings and multiple all-star appearances, who wouldn’t say he isn’t great? The answer to that question is, other NBA players. Well that probably isn’t true that they thikn he is horrible, but some absolutely despise Bryant. The NBA players that hate Kobe them most have to be these guys though:
Richard “Rip” Hamilton
Ever since the 2004 NBA Finals Rip and Kobe have been on each other. That year the Los Angles Lakers were playing the Detroit Pistons, two of the best teams, two of the worst cities. The Lakers were set to win after championships in 2000- 02, but were almost sweeped by the Pistons, led by Rip and his buddy, Chauncey Billups, otherwise known as “Mr. Clutch.” Even lately Rick has fouled out in games played against the Lakers.
We never really knew that Brandon disliked Kobe this much until yahoo.com posted this photo.
